CrossFit Class Expansion

Gravity Janes is adding a 4:30P class to the schedule beginning later this month. This will be a Monday thru Friday class.

We have experienced steady growth over the last year, and the 5:30P class is always the most popular of the day. This has put a lot of pressure on our available space at that time. The new class is designed to give those of you who have a little more flexibility the opportunity to get your workout in before the 5:30P rush.

We'll announce the exact start date of the new session on our Facebook page asap. If you haven't "friended" us yet, take a minute now to do that so you will be first to know of this another new developments. Facebook link to the right.

Parkour video on the way: picture shows our Parkour instructor Seth Novak in the process of making a video introducing you to Gravity Parkour. We'll post that video here and on Facebook as soon as it is complete. Meanwhile, Parkour fans can hook up with the GJ Parkour page also.

Schedule Upgrade

Gravity Janes has added a new Saturday group at 8A devoted to the process of developing usable strength. The group is called "CrossFit Strong", and it is open to all regular members within the confines of your current plan. Please attend only if you are serious about balancing your capacity for maximum performance. This group is limited to 10; pre-registration is 'strongly' recommended. Derrek manages; coaching will rotate.

Beat The Bridge, 2012 -

The Gravity Janes "Beat The Bridge" team is being organized by Roger Collister. Details, updates, and registration can all be handled on the official Beat The Bridge/Gravity Janes page here.

BLNW Competes at GJ

Gravity Janes hosted the inaugural competition of the Box League Northwest on Saturday, February 11th. CrossFit competition teams from SnoRidge CrossFit, Cascade CrossFit, Maple Valley CrossFit, and King CrossFit all completed the same workouts, and their respective performances were ranked.

Picture shows the first WOD of the day, with the SnoRidge, Cascade, and Gravity Janes teams on the floor.

More pictures on the Gravity Janes Facebook page, and a total re-cap of the days events can be found on the Box League web site.

Youth Athletics Grows

The "Janes Gang", Gravity Janes youth athletic program, expands to 3-days per week with sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and the new one on Friday afternoons. The new line up is on the Schedule page of this site. We are juiced about the growth of this important program. This is where kids learn what their bodies were designed for, and develop the kind of athleticism that will make them stand-out performers in any sport and, ultimately, healthier adults.

Picture features most of the current group of young athletes, plus coaches Zach and Casey.

Congratulations to Andrea J - Gravity Janes "Athlete of the Month" for January. Andrea was voted this distinction by the coaching staff at Gravity Janes for her commitment to excellence, performance, community spirit, and winning smile (okay, that last one was just a bonus).

Schedule Changes To Check Out

There are minor schedule changes in the GJ calender to be aware of. All of the regular CrossFit groups sessions are unchanged, and the changes are limited to Fundamentals and the Janes Gang Youth Athletic program. You are invited to review the new schedule of sessions here.

You'll also notice the elimination of the Basic Training program. It has been replaced with a more comprehensive Fundamentals program that now encompasses 6-sessions instead of the previous 3. Remember that all CrossFit work is scalable to any level of condition and experience, down to body weight only movements. Participants should always communicate any restrictions or concerns with the session coach.

Picture: We were honored to have 7-year-old Adelle Miller visit GJ this week and demonstrate her impressive body control - not to mention strength-to-weight ratio - while performing an L-Sit rope climb all the way to the top of our 18-foot rope.

Time Out

Update!!! Power is on, and we will hold a single afternoon session today (Friday) at 6P. Then, Saturday will be a regular schedule. Come get your fix!

We lost power at the gym at 8A on Thursday and haven't been able to operate since. Attempts at locating a generator have been unsuccessful so far, so we are at the mercy of the power company at this point. If this situation persists into Monday, we will open the gym for full workouts during daylight hours for 2 sessions daily - 9:30A & 3:30P. It will be colder and darker than any of us would prefer, but if we can't handle that we have no business doing CrossFit anyway. If you need a workout before then you're always welcome to come shovel my driveway.

Meanwhile, GJ staff is updating Facebook in the dark from our cellphones and posting more frequent updates. We'll let you know of any changes as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience; enjoy your rest days.
