"The amount of fat in your diet is not even close to your biggest problem. Here’s a news flash: you are not eating too much fat! You might be eating the wrong fat, but quantity is not the problem, and non-fat food is not the solution.
Rather, fat is one of the most important nutrients that you can eat. How ironic is it that low-fat/non-fat is still being promoted at every turn as the healthy alternative."
Just one little example of how this myth is permeated occurred in an episode of Seinfeld where the entire show was devoted all-too-seriously to the health virtues of non-fat yogurt.
